Most people grow gladioli from corms. Growing from seed is slower and all the more satisfying for it. Collected August 2025 — an experiment worth making.
Gladiolus is an exceptional cut flower — tall, stately, long-lasting in the vase. The petals are edible and can be used to decorate cakes and desserts, or floated in a summer punch bowl. Coming from seed rather than corms is a slower pleasure, but one that deepens your relationship with the plant: you’ll know exactly where it came from and how it was raised. The striking vertical stems and long-lasting blooms make them invaluable in flower arrangements.
